1) Space Capital released their Q1 2025 Space Investment Quarterly report. Highlights include:

  • Activity has softened across key sectors and the space infrastructure sector posted its second-lowest funding total in three years.

  • Overall, $4.3 billion was invested in 104 companies in Q1, which is down -45% YoY and -57% from Q4 2024.

  • VCs continued to be the most active investors, contributing 65% of 2025 funding to-date, which is above their historical average of 50%.

  • Investors realized $5.7B through 21 exits during the quarter, including 15 acquisitions and 1 IPO.

Astra Raises $80M in Funding

The former publicly traded $ASTR has raised funding per CEO Chris Kemp. The capital was used to buy out shareholders, pay transaction and legal fees, remove secured lenders and refinance the company. On X, Kemp said the company is "now hiring, shipping satellite engines, accelerating rocket testing and development, and will resume launches next year."

AMCA Raises $76.5M in Funding

The Advanced Manufacturing Company of America has emerged with a vision to renew the entrepreneurial spirit and engineering legacy of the aerospace and defense industry's golden age. The startup has acquired its first supplier, Electro-Mech Components, Inc., and already counts Boeing ($BA) among its customers for its line of human-machine interface products. The investment was backed by Caffeinated Capital, Founders Fund, Lux Capital, Andreessen Horowitz and others. 

Exbiosphere Raises €2M Seed Round

The contract research organization dedicated to drug discovery in space will use the capital to scale its orbital high-throughput screening platform. The round was led by Expansion Ventures, with significant participation from Expon Capital, Boryung and Space Data Inc.

D-Orbit To Acquire Planetek Group 

(ST)

The almost SPAC'd space logistics company D-Orbit will acquire all shares of the EO and analytics company to bring together in-orbit servicing and space data. The two companies expect to retain operational autonomy, but will “explore new innovative business models and synergies” together. The transaction amount was undisclosed.

Voyager To Acquire LEOCloud 

(Co)

The soon-to-IPO national security and space solutions company has acquired LEOCloud, a provider of space-based cloud computing solutions. The acquiree's goal is to offer scalable and secure LEO cloud infrastructure and computing solutions. The transaction amount was undisclosed.
