1) BlackSky ($BKSY) received a $4.4M award from the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity to provide advanced artificial intelligence for Space-Based dynamic monitoring.

  • The award will support the second phase of the multi-year Space-based Machine Automated Recognition Technique Program (SMART). The machine learning operations will accelerate their development of analyzing the immense volume and complexity of space-based image data.

  • The company also announced a partnership with Esri to offer on-demand satellite tasking to the millions of global ArcGIS online user base.

 2) Planet ($PL) signed a contract with the German Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy to provide daily satellite data.

  • The data applications will range from crisis management, civil and public safety support to environmental and nature conservation such as forest and agricultural monitoring.

 3) Virgin Galactic ($SPCE) announced a new Spaceship manufacturing facility located in Mesa, Arizona.

  • This future new facility will produce up to six Delta class spaceships per year and is expected to be fully operational by late 2023. The facility is crucial to Virgin's hopes for accelerated manufacturing production and increased flight capacity goals.

 4) Bonus: Quilty Analytics released their June 2022 Satellite & Space market monitor.
